Soprano Lydia Dahling joins Cantanti Project for the 2017-2018 season as a Staff Artist in the role of Project Coordinator.
Dahling is an emerging singer known for her dynamic and intimate performances and her wide range of vocal colors. This season, she covers Zerlina (Don Giovanni) with Vocal Productions NYC and makes her role debut as Gilda in Rigoletto. In the 2015-2016 season, she made role debuts as Pamina in The Magic Flute and Lisette in La rondine. She also joined The Cantanti Project as Ophelia in excerpts from Hamlet and was a cover study of the title role in their production of Alcina. Her interpretation of Zerlina (Don Giovanni) with Mannes Opera was called “sweet voiced” by Opera News. Other credits include Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) with Sugar Creek Opera, where she was a Danis Wilson Apprentice Artist, and the Voice from Heaven (Don Carlo) with Vocal Productions NYC. Also a performer of chamber music, she has performed works such as Seven Romances by Aleksandr Blok (Shostakovich) and a world premier by Dorian Wallace with Tenth Intervention, a new music consortium based in New York City. Dahling holds degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and Mannes College The New School for Music, and also studied French song with Michel Sénéchal. A native of Indiana, she currently resides in New York City.
