Mezzo-soprano Kristin Roney recently moved to the New York area from Phoenix, Arizona. This fall, she performed the role of Zulma from L’italiana in Algeri with Utopia Opera. She performed at Carnegie Hall in the world premiere of Ola Gjeilo’s Dream Weaver this past spring with Manhattan Chorale. Other recent engagements include Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos with Manhattan Opera Studio and Bradamante in Alcina for New York Lyric Opera. She earned her M.M. in Opera Performance from Arizona State University. While at ASU, she performed the role of Florence in the Lyric Opera Theatre production of Albert Herring and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. She sang as a core chorister with Arizona Opera and covered the roles of Stephano, Suzuki, Kate Pinkerton, and Orfeo through the AZ Opera/ASU Study Cover program. Also, she made her professional debut with the Phoenix Symphony. She received her B.M. in Vocal Performance from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
