Rachel Selan

Rachel Selan is praised for “singing with a radiant mezzo.” A native of Los Angeles, Miss Selan is equally comfortable on both operatic and musical theatre stages. She last performed with Cantanti Project in their production of Alcina as Ruggiero. Other highlights include The Consul (Vera Boronel) and Iolanta (Marta), both with the former Dicapo Opera, Hansel and Gretel (Hansel), Carmen (Carmen cover), Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife), The Crucible (Rebecca Nurse), Le nozze di Figaro (Marcellina), The Music Man (Alma Hix), Side by Side by Sondheim, and The Mikado (Pitti Sing). Always having a fondness for contemporary music, she originated the role of Henry Ford in the world-premiere of Juventas New Music Ensemble's production of Light & Power, which won the 2012 American Prize in Opera Performance, professional division, and recently premiered "The Explosion and other stories", a song cycle written for her by Alex Burtzos. Miss Selan resides in New York City where she studies with Margaret Lattimore.
