Favorite way to spend your free time?

Either at home cleaning the apartment then watching movies on Netflix, or walking around the city with my husband.

Really, cleaning the apartment? Why is that?

Unfortunately, I have OCD. Lol! It's never an easy life, especially if you deal with people who are disorganized. But of course, we don't live in a perfect world. That's the beauty and challenge of it! One advantage of living in an NYC apartment is you only clean literally one "big" room with compartments - bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room.

Favorite not-classical music genre?

Folk music

Who is a stand-up comedian we should all know about?

Louis C.K. is my favorite comedian. All his specials are great, but his opening monologue when he hosted SNL was pretty funny.

What was the first aria you learned? And what did you think of it?

I don't remember the first aria I myself learned, but I do remember one of the first arias that made an impression on me--it was "Signore, ascolta," Liù's aria from Turandot. It was from Renee Fleming's self-titled CD, released when she first started to get really famous. I just couldn't believe a human being could make a sound that beautiful.

The book that made the biggest impact on your life and why?

This is an impossible question for me, because I read constantly! But if I was forced to choose, I would pick Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. It is the first piece of her writing that I read, and its power and beauty blew me away.

As a movie lover, what are two movies that you wish everyone would watch at least once and why?

That's a tough question. I think if I could somehow get everyone to watch two movies, I'd want them to have something to say about being an artist and creating art, because these days that doesn't seem to get much attention in our world.

What to you do when you're not practicing and performing?

When I'm not practicing and performing, I spend a lot of time with my dog Finnigan. Also, I started CrossFit! I was really nervous at first, and now I love it. It’s a big community and the people are really supportive.

What's Finnigan's favorite hobby/activity?

Finnigan's favorite hobby is collecting treats, toys, sock, etc. and hoarding them in his bed, which is under our bed. We affectionately refer to it as his "nest."

What's on your playlist now?

My playlist is a bit on the eclectic side... lately I've been listening to Richard Strauss, Schubert, Debussy, Major Lazer, Radu Lupu, Low, Glasser...

Role/character you've performed (or studied) that is most like you? Least like you?

I think one of the characters I can most relate to is Hansel. He is a quick thinker (i.e. gathers stones when he overhears his parents talking about ditching them, leaves breadcrumbs through the forest, etc..). He also comforts his sister in the woods when it is dark outside. I think he taps he is nurturing but very strong. I also probably relate quite a bit to Dorabella... she is an erratic thinker yet a romantic at heart. She has a large heart and spirit to her. A character that is least like me... well, I try to find bits and pieces that are maybe like myself in more ways than I care to admit!!
